Atherton Tablelands Accommodation

From Allawah Retreat, you can enjoy sweeping views north and east over the Tablelands to Lake Tinaroo, while behind you rise the rugged ridges of Australia’s Great Dividing Range.

Walking tracks allow you to explore the surrounding eucalypt woodland where you’ll discover abundant wildlife and native birds; interesting flora such as ancient cycads, bushmen’s clothespegs, quinine bushes (its extract is used in treatment of malaria), and the fragrant aroma of the Lemon Scented Gum.

While at Allawah Retreat, you can relax by just soaking up the peace and quiet of the Australian Highlands bush, watch the birdlife (including huge wedgetail eagles) or native animals only metres away, enjoy a good book, your favourite wine or sample the excellent local coffee...

Allawah Retreat is a decadent getaway for those seeking relaxation or romance. Even the lodge epithets are seductive — Honeygem, Moonlight and Treetops — and if that doesn’t set the scene for amour, then maybe some of the sybaritic appointments will- sentimental CDs, moodlighting, complimentary port, chocolates, fresh native flowers and an inviting heated deck spa.

Choose from four individual lodges for your escape to Tropical North Queensland. The lodges are built in the style of a pole home construction with elevated decks, which look through the tree tops to the views beyond. Many may refer to them as treehouses, cottages or cabins but we have chosen to call them lodges. All lodges are fully self contained with with flat screen LCD or Plasma TVs, reverse cycle split system air conditioning and cosy log fires for winter.

We offer the friendly warm hospitality and homemade goodies that you expect from a traditional Bed & Breakfast but our retreat accommodation is designed to allow guests their own space and privacy. As the lodges are self contained, guests may choose to purchase some of the local fresh produce and cook up a storm in their retreat, order from our Meal Menu or dine out. The lodges are very spacious and have been designed and equipped to make even the most fastidious feel they are at home. We refer to the decks as live-on decks as they are very spacious and many guests spend much of the time enjoying the outdoor living and privacy that the decks offer.

The kitchen is equipped with all your needs including, full size fridge/freezer, cooktop, oven, microwave, electric frypan, skillet, wok, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans plus coffee plungers, oil, salt and pepper and other kitchen appliances to make your stay homely. The lodges all have their own laundries with washing machine, laundry tub and clothes airer, and washing powder may be purchased.

We have recently taken a video of our smallest cabin, Moonlight Lodge, which will give you an idea of what our lodges look like. While all lodges are different, the movie will put our photographs into perspective. It should take about 5m to download on a modem and will load very quickly on broadband (3.6MB). See the Moonlight Video.
