Atherton Tablelands Accommodation

From Allawah Retreat, you will have sweeping views north and east over the Tablelands to Lake Tinaroo, whilst behind you rise the rugged ridges of Australia’s Great Dividing Range.

While at Allawah Retreat, you can relax by just soaking up the peace and quiet of the Australian Highlands bush, watch the birdlife (including huge wedge-tailed eagles) or native animals only metres away, read a good book, enjoy your favourite wine or sample the excellent local coffee.

Walking tracks allow you to explore the surrounding eucalypt woodland where you’ll discover abundant wildlife and native birds, interesting flora such as ancient cycads, bushman’s clothes pegs, quinine bushes (its extract is used in treatment of malaria), and the fragrant aroma of the Lemon Scented Gum.

Allawah Retreat is a decadent getaway for those seeking relaxation or romance. Even the lodge epithets are seductive — Moonlight and Treetops — and if that doesn’t set the scene for amour, then maybe some of the sybaritic appointments will- sentimental CDs, mood lighting, complimentary port, chocolates, fresh native flowers and an inviting heated deck spa.

Choose from three individual lodges for your escape to Tropical North Queensland. The lodges are built in the style of a pole home construction with elevated decks, with views through the tree tops to the Tablelands beyond. Many might refer to them as tree-houses, cottages or cabins but we have chosen to call them lodges. All lodges are fully self contained with flat screen TVs, reverse cycle split system air conditioning and a cosy log fire for winter.

We offer the friendly warm hospitality and homemade goodies that you expect from a traditional Bed & Breakfast but our retreat accommodation is designed to allow guests their own space and privacy.

As the lodges are self contained, guests may choose to purchase some local fresh produce and cook up a storm in their retreat, order from our Rest & Romance Packages, or dine out. The lodges are very spacious and have been designed and equipped to make even the most fastidious feel they are at home.

The kitchens are equipped with all your needs including, full size fridge/freezer, cooktop, microwave, electric frypan, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans plus coffee plungers, oil, salt and pepper and other kitchen appliances to make your stay homely. The lodges all have their own laundry with washing machine, tub, washing powder and clothes airer.

We have a video of our smallest cabin, Moonlight Lodge, which will give you an idea of what our lodges look like. While all lodges are different, the movie will put our photographs into perspective. Watch the Moonlight Video.
